Blackberries. Delicious and gorgeous. A great subject to paint in early autumn. The weekly class has been painting beautiful blackberries. Each person has designed their own painting. It has been exciting to watch these paintings in progress. We will be painting blackberries for two more weeks. The newsletter for November 2008 has been uploaded with updated class dates. Here is the link to the most recent information. http://www.labergedesign.com/newstr.html

We have been painting miniature roses in class. Each painter used their own design layouts and color choices. Each artist created roses that they plan to frame or they can use the scans of their paintings to make cards or note paper. We are planning to continue painting roses. During the next session we will study large pink and ruby roses. Happy painting!

Finding time to design or even think about designing takes considerable thought and energy. Sometimes an outdoor adventure is clears the mind and gets the creative juices flowing. Today was one of those days when the sun was shining and the thermometer climbed to “almost” sixty degrees. With spring in the air it was time to venture out to the local park with a beautiful lake and take in the sights and sounds of early spring. There were Snow Drops in the manicured flower beds, budding trees and “lawn daisies” to enjoy as well as the songs of birds that returned for the summer.

Thoughts of painting another snowscene have been replaced by plans to begin painting images with early spring light and color.

Instead of supplying another link for you to browse on the screen why not take a pencil and paper and go outside to draw or perhaps a camera and add images to your file of subjects to paint one day.Spring is a good time to study plein aire and enjoy natures natural beauty. Happy Designing!

In my studio at LaBerge Design, Tuesday is probably my favorite day of the week. Students arrive to learn as much as possible about painting on porcelain and glass. I’m very lucky to have such enthusiastic students. They have just finished painting an Elk in a mountain scene.

You can view the instructions at this link: http://www.porcelainartist.proboards25.com/index.cgi?board=LaBerge. After arriving at this site, click on the Elk in the Cascades link and retrieve the instructions. This easy lesson was successfully painted by the class. Hope you get a chance to paint this lesson and if you have questions, leave a post. Happy painting.
